I had my surgery yesterday and everything went great.  Turns out though that it wasn't a cyst--somehow I had a badly damaged lymph node that was causing all of my trouble.  My doctor removed the little bugger though so I shouldn't have to worry about anymore horribly painful neck infections any time soon.

Oh, and btw, vicodin is wonderful.  But you probably knew that already.

*hangs head in shame for not updating for 3 months...*

Hi all.  Since it's been so long since I've updated this thing, I'll just give you the quasi-headline news:

L.A. = the best time I've had in my entire life ever.  We lived down the street from Universal Studios, worked at CBS studio every day, recorded our cues (for 30-piece orchestra) at Capitol Records (THE Capitol-A studio), and worked with/met some A-list Hollywood folks in the film and video game music industry.  Oh, and partied.  And partied.  And partied.  And partied some more.  And then we partied again.

Did I mention we partied our a$$e$ off??

September 5--Woke up with a lump in my neck, and after an anxiety-ridden month finally found out that I don't have anything malignant.  I have a birth defect called a branchial cleft cyst.  Whoopee.  I'm having neck surgery on November 17th to have it removed.  Whoopee.  At least I got some Tylenol 3 out of the deal (codeine, baby!).

A couple months back we had this massive flood that I'm sure all of you know about by now, and my room (in the basement...) was destroyed.  My film scores from L.A., my record collection, my comic book collection, and some expensive music textbooks (that I actually still use) were among some of my possessions that were destroyed, and most of my things are still in boxes in the garage or out in my car.  I've since moved in with Bobbo in Danville and am actually enjoying myself down here.  It's nice to finally not be in school and be able to just work and take care of the house and Bobbo.  Jereme moved out so we have a guest room now, and the place is really starting to look nice...so if you want to party or whatever...hint hint....

I have a "job" at GameStop now.  I only have a few hours a week right now because they're considering me temp help at first, but after 3 months I will be a normal employee.  Oh, and did I mention I get a discount?  Did I also mention that that's the main reason I chose to work there?  Yeah.  Eat it.

Speaking of video games, either today or tomorrow I'm sending my demo to the head audio guy at Volition, a video game company in Champaign, IL.  I already sent him my resume and they're interested, so hopefully something comes of this in the next 5-6 months.  They just finished up a project, so he said that it may be that long before I hear something, but I should at least get an internship or desk job or something out of it.  "I hope I get the jobby--I've got my fingers crossed...I've got my fiiiiiinnnngers croooossssssed...."

Threw a much needed massive sexy Halloween party this past Saturday in Lincoln at the old party apartment.  Let me tell you, we had 6 bands play (4 of which were my good friends' bands) and I think at one point there were at least 60 people there (most of which I knew at least a little bit).  Quite a night full of smoking, drinking, and debauchery ;).  Makes me want to have another one this weekend....

Hopefully I'll get back to updating this thing more regularly.  This is what you get for now.

Later doods.

WHAT'S THAT? AN UPDATE YOU SAY??

Hi everyone.  Sorry for my lack of updates--we can only have one computer on the internet at a time here in the apartment so I won't get to update as much as I would like to.  Anyway, I'm finally here in L.A. and today was my second day of classes.

Holy crap.

Let me tell you, I am totally inundated with work here, but I'm gonna learn a lot.  First of all I should tell you that we are working at Columbia's permanent bungalow on CBS studio's lot.  It's so freakin' cool that we are working here.  I got to walk by Malcom in the Middle's house, eat next to Will and Grace's main set, and work next to the set used for central park scenes in Seinfeld.  Oh, and I walked past the That 70's Show set today, too.  There are a few soap opera sets that we walk by to get to the studio--Passions is the only one I can think of right now.  I'm hoping we get to see the rest of the lot soon, but we've been way too busy for that type of thing yet.

One of the head honchos teaching us Logic (which is the MIDI sequencing/film scoring program we are learning/using) has written scores and music for tons of people, including (but not limited to) writing the music for Dane Cook's tour.

Anyway,  sorry to cut this a bit short but someone needs to get on the internet.

More to come very soon....

We FINALLY went out and did something last night and I had a really great time.  It turns out that the girl we're staying with is the one that's been causing the problems for me, not Ariella.  It's a long, boring story, so suffice it to say that the car is done and we're leaving Tucson today.

So last night we hung out in downtown Tucson, which is actually quite nice.  We got dinner, walked around, ate ice cream, and went to an awesome bar.  I wish it wouldn't have been so dark in there cuz' I would've taken pictures.  The bar was called "The Surly Wench" and there were pirates and skulls all over the place.  And, right next to our table, there was this huge velvet painting of Elvis.  Totally awesome.

Sorry about the lack of positivity in my last few posts.  I don't really have people to talk to down here so I've kind of been venting online, which in turn has made me feel much better (you know, just had to get it out of my system and all).  So, because of your tolerance and whatnot, here is my new "boyfriend" Reuben for your viewing pleasure:

Isn't he like the cutest dog ever?  His face matches his personality--this is seriously the nicest, sweetest dog I've ever been around.  He's been my buddy the whole time I've been here.  I never imagined that I would ever be buddies with a pit bull, but there you have it.

We're staying the night in Phoenix tonight since we can't move into our apartment till tomorrow.  LA is only 8 hours away!

New Recruit.

I finally hooked up Guitar Hero.  Ariella is already playing well on Medium.

Need I say more?
